MEG
"Monoethylene Glycol"

MEG Usage Areas:
1. Polyester Production: MEG is primarily used in the manufacture of polyester fibers, resins, and films. This accounts for the majority of its consumption. Polyester fibers are used in textiles, while polyester resins are used in bottles (PET bottles) and packaging materials.
2. Antifreeze: It serves as a major component in antifreeze formulations due to its low freezing point and ability to depress the freezing point of water, making it ideal for use in engines and HVAC systems.

3. Coolants: Similar to its use in antifreeze, MEG is used in industrial coolants for its thermal and heat transfer properties.
4. Solvent: MEG is used as a solvent in the pharmaceutical, cosmetics, and ink industries due to its compatibility with many substances.

5. Humectant: In the textile and leather industry, MEG is used to maintain moisture content and improve material handling.

6. De-icing: It is used for de-icing of aircrafts and runways in cold climates.
